A few days ago that Instagram launched Reels in Spain , however, you may not be interested in this new tool or it is not in your plans to use it, so today we show you how to hide Reels.
Reels is a new Instagram tool that allows users to create videos of up to 15 seconds with music, filters and effects . It is a copy of TikTok that Instagram has launched to try to stop the great growth of its rival.
Instagram does not offer any official option to deactivate Reels , at least not yet, so we must find our lives to do so. To hide Reels on Instagram use any of the following methods:

Method 1: install the previous version of Instagram
- Uninstall the Instagram app on your mobile
- Download a version of Instagram prior to the introduction of Reels (152.0 on Android and 153.0 on iOS).
You will have to download it with an .apk (Android) or .ipa (iOS) extension from an unofficial platform (you will not be able to do it from Google Play or from the App Store). A simple search on the internet and you will find a multitude of results.
- Install that version on your mobile. When executing the file, it may ask for your permission to install the app or you may directly receive a message that the installation could not be carried out because the developer is not secure.
To solve this you must allow the installation of apps from unknown sources in your phone's settings.
- Once the app is installed, log in to Instagram and voila , no reels!
Keep in mind that this solution is temporary, because if you have automatic updates activated, your mobile will reinstall the latest version of Instagram available . To avoid this, take the following steps:
- On Android : open the Google Play Store app <Menu <My apps and games <Installed <Instagram , click on the three dots in the upper right corner and uncheck Update automatically
- On iOS: Go to Settings > [your name] > iTunes Store and App Store and turn off App Updates .
Also, by not updating the Instagram app, you will not only miss Reels, but any other new features that Instagram will launch in the future .
Even some of the tools prior to the release of Reels could stop working due to not receiving the necessary support through updates and the app itself could force you to update in order to continue using it .
That is why, before opting for this option, you should be aware of all the implications .

Method 2: use your browser
An alternative option to hide Reels and that does not affect your Instagram app is to use your browser.
- Open your browser on your computer or mobile , such as Chrome, Safari or Firefox
- Login to your Instagram account
- You can see that Reels is not enabled
Again, this is a temporary fix that could change as soon as Instagram wants. Remember that when stories were launched, at first they could not be viewed through the browser, but that option was soon enabled.
