Sligo Art Gallery was founded in 1977 under the auspices of the Yeats Society to provide exhibition facilities for all art forms. From this beginning Sligo Art Gallery Limited evolved into an independent incorporated charity and educational foundation. The Gallery mounts fifteen to twenty major exhibitions annually. There are in addition, a number of showings outside the Gallery and also projects which involve active public participation.
