Berendsen is a part of the Berendsen plc, which operates over 140 commercial laundries across Europe. History: Berendsen plc (previously called The Davis Group Plc) is a European textile service business with leading positions in the majority of the countries in which we operate. Berendsen was formed following the acquisition of Sophus Berendsen in 2002, which had textile service operations under the Berendsen brand in Scandinavia, The Netherlands, Germany and Poland. These operations were combined with the existing Davis business which had very similar operations in the UK, Ireland and Germany, providing services under the Sunlight and Spring Grove brands. Both Berendsen and Davis were long-established business service companies with history dating back over a hundred years. Historic dates The company takes its name from Spring Grove Road, Isleworth, West London 1864 Mrs Ellen Crush began to offer a domestic laundry service to local residents 1939 Expanded into contract laundry and the rental of work garments 1967 The group was a wholly owned subsidiary of Chapter House Group Ltd for 12 years 1969 It was at that time it acquired Hygiene Products Ltd, which was to become Spring Grove Ireland based in Cabinteely. 1981 The Cork plant at Glanmire was built. It was at that time Contract Cleaners Ltd was brought into the group 1989 The whole group was bought by P&O 1993 The group was ten acquired by the Granada Group. Initial Group was then acquired in the republic. 1995 New Steritex Department was opened in Ballsbridge 1996 Granada Group sold the Spring Grove Services Group to The Davis Service Group in the UK 2000 Spring Grove Services reached agreement with the Connacht Court Group to assume contractual responsibility for their hospital customers. 2003 Established new facility for mats and roller towels based in Stillorgan. Spring Grove bought over Executive towels with 1200 new customers 2003 Linen Plant moved from Ballsbridge to new improved plant in Pottery Rd. Our Pottery Rd plant is now the largest hospital linen processing plant in Ireland. 2015 Spring Grove changed to Berendsen
