STATUE ROBBED FROM CHURCH
Locals are reported to be living in fear in Clogheen and Ballyporeen following a spate of robberies as burglars target gold, cash and religious artifacts. St Mary’s Church in Clogheen was among the victims of the crime spree.
On Saturday, October 29 a 4ft statue of the image of Our Lady of Fatima was stolen from the church but recovered shortly afterwards. A representative for the parochial house in Clogheen parish told The Avondhu that they were delighted that the statue was back in their possession.
