Mud Run should be some fun!
The area around Gortnahown and Curraghagalla to the south of Mitchelstown is a hive of activity these times as anticipation builds in advance of a most important event, D'Hillbillies Mud Run on Nov 1.
If the course, which will be getting the final touches as D-day approaches, is anything to go by, this run is going to be some fun. The course, on the farm of Billy O'Donovan, has some interesting (and challenging) obstacles for the large turnout of both the seasoned and the less well seasoned who have signed up to take part.
This Saturday gives the public another opportunity to enter as the Mitchelstown Credit Union van will again be in New Square from 10.30am to 2pm to take entries and deal with any queries you may have. And do remember - it's all in aid of the Mercy Hospital's cancer appeal, so as well as enjoying yourself, you will also be helping one of the country's most deserving of charities.
The event is open to individuals and teams and participants must be over 16. Entry is €35 per person and teams of 20+ is €25 per person. Registration is essential and those intended on taking part can register on Saturday in New Square or can sign up online at www.mercyfundraising.ie or by calling (021) 4274076. More information can be had on www.mudrun.mitchelstownlionsclub.ie.
