MITCHELSTOWN STAR PUPIL, CILLIAN SCORES 8 AS IN LEAVING CERT
Mitchelstown CBS pupil, Cillian Lineen achieved an outstanding 8 As in his Leaving Cert. and so continues a school and family tradition by obtaining a place in medicine in the CAO offers.
Cillian’s father John, a native of Co. Mayo, is a practising GP and his mother, Marie is a member of the teaching staff in Presentation Secondary School, Mitchelstown. The Lineen family moved from London to Ballindangan in the summer of 2004, and Cillian’s first introduction to education in Ireland was at the CBS where he completed six years of school as he chose to study transition year, which was optional.
He achieved 10 As in his Junior Cert, including Irish, which he first studied on entering secondary school.
During his years at Mitchelstown CBS, Cillian fully embraced every aspect of school life, not only in academic sense but also socially and culturally. He represented his school with success in the applied maths and chemistry competitions. Cillian was involved in the Social Innovators programme 2008, which qualified for the All-Ireland final.
He actively participated in all musical activities in the school, willingly giving of his time and talent. It seems certain that college life will be enhanced by his considerable talents.
