MITCHELSTOWN RFC CELEBRATES FAMOUS VICTORY
Mitchelstown Rugby Club is cock-a-hoop this week after coming of age on Sunday last when, sixteen years after the formation of the club and in only their second competitive season as an adult team, they captured the South Munster Junior 3 league.
Having stuttered in phase 1 of the competition, losing two games, Mitchelstown RFC were only third favourites in the second stage.
However, a win against Cork Transport and a bonus point win against UCC, set them on their way to the final game against Sunday’s Well in Musgrave Park. Despite an intense effort early on, there was only ..... .
A try by Shane Lynch and a brace from Mark Kavanagh sealed a momentous victory which was celebrated into the early hours in Mitchelstown.

Commenting on the success, Owen Dawson, one of the founding members of Mitchelstown RFC and a native of Galbally, told The Avondhu, “The support was huge on Sunday, with many people, young and old, travelling to cheer on the team.
