MITCHELSTOWN DISTRIBUTION CENTRE LIES IDLE – ALDI STICKING TO THEIR GUNS
Aldi are, it appears, sticking to their guns regarding the 2013 opening of the new €100m regional distribution centre in Mitchelstown.
The company has reiterated an earlier stance, telling The Avondhu that the lack of planning permissions for new stores is the only factor contributing to the delay in opening the new regional distribution centre on the Limerick road.
The complex was part of the German retail giant’s overall €350m expansion drive, which aimed to create 1,000 jobs nationally and open 35 new stores in Ireland by 2011.
Construction at the ghost distribution centre is complete and landscaped but the centre lays dormant for now along with the opportunity to create 100 plus local jobs as promised.
