Dairygold chief is Cork Person of the Month
Jim Woulfe, Dairygold Chief Executive has been chosen Cork Person of the Month to mark the Co-op's €117m investment in Mallow and Mitchelstown, giving it the processing capacity to take advantage of next year's abolition of EU milk quote restrictions.
Each month a Person or Persons of the Month are selected and at year’s end, the Cork Person of the Year is chosen from the monthly winners. The awards scheme was established in 1993, and covers Cork City and Cork County.
Awards founder Manus O'Callaghan, said back then, like today, the media was full of doom and gloom and he wanted to establish a vehicle to deliver the good news stories and the people behind them.
"People are inspired by people, and hopefully, by honouring achievement and celebrating success, others may be inspired to follow in the footsteps of our local heroes. Our award scheme celebrates Cork's greatest asset - our people," Mr O'Callaghan said.
Jim Woulfe's name now goes forward, with the other Persons of the Month chosen this year, for possible selection as Person of the Year at an awards lunch on Jan 16th next.
