As part of their Green Schools Action Day, the students of Curraghagalla National School joined forces with Curraghagalla Community Group to clean up the local area as part of National Spring Clean week.
Armed with bags, pickers and gloves, the little workers and the volunteers set about their 'Spring Spruce Up' and refreshments afterwards at Ned's were warmly welcomed.
With the Curraghagalla and Caherdrinna areas now almost litter free, the students hope that people living there, visiting or passing through will appreciate the beauty of the area that bit more and take their litter home with them to dispose of it properly.
Thanks to all the volunteers on the day, the community group and anyone else who helped out.
The pupils, staff and members of the Green Schools Committee are at present working very hard to re-use, reduce and recycle and to raise awareness of the importance of keeping our environment neat, clean and litter free. They are working to adhere to their Green Schools motto 'Be Keen, Go Green, Keep Curraghagalla Clean'.
Best wishes to students Kayleigh, Dion, Jamie, Seán, Jamie and Cathal who are receiving their First Holy Communion on Saturday in Curraghagalla Church.
