COULD BACON FACTORY SITE HOUSE NEW PROCESSING FACILITY?
As a follow-on from last week’s story in The Avondhu which speculated that Dairygold could be set to investigate the possibility of developing a joint venture processing facility in Mitchelstown in co-operation with the Kerry Group and Glanbia, a well placed local farming source has again reiterated that the co-op may, indeed look at the old bacon factory site at Cahir Hill for such a development.
There is a general acceptance that extra processing facilities will be needed in the region in advance of the removal of the milk quota in 2015.
