BUSINESS ASSOCIATION WANTS TO MAKE IT ONE KOOL CHRISTMAS
It’s that time of the year again and for the business community of Mitchelstown all thoughts have turned to the Christmas season, writes Brian Moore. This year the Mitchelstown Business Association (MBA) is hoping to make Christmas 2010 a one to remember.
“We’re calling on everyone’s help to raise money for new Christmas lights for the town. In previous years most of the Mitchelstown businesses kindly contributes money towards the lights and, this time, we would like to raise money to get new lights and also to put towards the Christmas street party which has been so successful in the past. I would love to really have a spectacular event this year,” Claudia Richardson of the MBA told The Avondhu. Volunteers are also needed for the Christmas committee.
“Ireland as a nation is very good at helping people in need. We as a town always seem to be collecting and raising money for others too, now we really need to join together as a community and raise money for ourselves. An account has been opened at the credit union under ‘Kool Christmas’, and I urge and encourage people to give a little as it would help a lot. Even if everybody in town gave €5, imagine how much it would raise?” Claudia added.
“That’s why I am calling on groups, schools, business, individuals or anyone who would like to help to raise money for Christmas. I’m hoping we’ll have a really big community effort. Any contribution, no matter how big or small, is welcome.
"We’re also hoping for more suggestions and ideas for the street party this year, from schools, kids or adults. The more ideas the better. Please email me with any suggestions or fundraising that you would like to do at koolchristmas@hotmail.com,” Claudia concluded.
