ALDI’S DISTRIBUTION CENTRE TO OPEN - BUT NEXT YEAR
Aldi’s long-awaited new distribution centre is to finally open in Mitchelstown, but not until next year. When fully operational it will employ 160 staff. The distribution centre and office facility will open in September 2013, The Avondhu has learned. It will service Aldi’s southern stores in Cork, Waterford, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Clare.
Recently, a spokesperson for the company blamed the long delay in opening the facility on problems the German supermarket chain was experiencing in securing planning permission for new stores.
