The present Gort Hurling Club was founded at the turn of the 20th century shortly after the diocesan reorganisation, which brought into existence the present parish of Gort by amalgamating Kilmacduagh, Kiltartan and portion of Gort Town and surrounds, which then were included in the parish of Beagh.
