STOLEN FERMOY JEWELLERY RECOVERED IN GERMANY
Police in Germany have recovered a quantity of the jewellery stolen from JJ Barber’s Jewellers in Fermoy last month.
€4,000 worth of jewellery was recovered when German police, undertaking routine patrol on the highway near the city of Passau, stopped an Irish registered Jaguar. Two Eastern European men, aged 36 and 37, one of which had resided in Dublin for some time, were arrested on suspicion of the possession of drugs. Cannabis and cocaine was found in the car along with €4,000 worth of jewellery.
Subsequent investigations, involving the German police and the gardai, led to the jewellery being identified by the owner. The investigation continues amidst efforts to recover the remainder of the jewellery stolen.
It is reported that up to €80,000 worth of jewellery, mostly gold, was stolen from JJ Barber’s on January 30 when raiders gained entry through the skylight, having climbed along the back roof.
