PEDESTRIAN LINK FOR FERMOY CAR PARKS
Fermoy Town Council has confirmed that work will commence next month on the linking of both the Library Car Park and Kevin Barry Car Park in the town.
Initially a vehicle ramp was planned to link the two car parks, but work will first commence on the construction of a pedestrian link between the two to observe the effect before the decision is taken to undertake work on an actual ramp.
Local Labour councillor, Noel McCarthy welcomed the proposed works adding that it will be good to have a walkway between the two car parks.
“I think it’s a great thing, Kevin Barry Car Park won’t seem as far up when there is a pedestrian link joining it to the lower facility. It will bring people closer to the town which will be very welcome, and people won't have as far to walk.”
Preparations are currently under way to make this happen and construction will begin in June, which will take approximately six weeks.
