OPERATION HOLLY HOT ON THE TAILS OF TRAVELLING THIEVES
Operation Holly, an initiative launched by An Garda Siochana, is to focus on the prevention of travelling criminals from passing through the Fermoy district.
The emphasis will be on financial institutions and shops in the region, and the operation, which started on November 25, is to continue until January 8 next.
Uniformed gardai, backed by armed members, will be closely monitoring post offices and financial institutions, in general.
“Strategic checkpoints will be set up to intercept any potential criminals. There are a large number of cars going through our division every week, so the potential is there. Gardai will also pay regular visits to the financial institutions. A greater presence will be noticeable in the Fermoy and Mitchelstown areas,” stated a garda spokesperson.
The main objectives of the garda initiative, ‘Operation Holly’, are increased checkpoints targeting travelling criminals and armed patrols concentrating on financial institutions.
