NEW AUTISTIC UNIT OPENS IN FERMOY
The official opening of Presentation Primary School’s Early Intervention Autistic Unit at College Road, Fermoy will take place on this Friday, May 28 at 11.30am, writes Jim Lysaght.
The unit, which is called Little Acorns, incorporates a room for therapists, a sensory room, a play facility, a main classroom and specially adapted toilets. The unit has been mainly funded by the Department of Education and Skills with additional money being provided by local support groups.
Children who avail of the facility will cut the tape on this Friday while the chairperson of the school board of management, Fr Eugene Baker will perform the blessing of the facilities.
