MISSING FUNDS ARREST - FILE BEING PREPARED FOR DPP
A local man was arrested and released without charge last Friday in relation to funds that have been reported as missing from Fermoy Boxing Club. A file is being prepared by gardai in Fermoy for the DPP.
The substantial sum of money was noticed missing in April, €18,000 from two Fermoy financial institutions, Fermoy Credit Union and the National Irish Bank, and €10,000, reportedly in cash, a sum which is said to have derived from ticket sales, donations and tournaments. A further sum of €1,500, raised from street and church gate collections, was reported as missing recently, and an investigation is ongoing into the matter.
It is alleged that the money withdrawn from the local financial institutions was taken out on only one signature, although two signatures of club officials would have been required.
