HOPES THAT FERMOY ALL-WEATHER PITCH WILL BE READY IN JUNE
Work on the €600,000 all weather pitch at Loreto Secondary School, Fermoy is on course for its late June completion date, a member of the facility’s fundraising committee has told The Avondhu.
David Ryan said that Simply Green Ltd, the Cork-based contractors carrying out the work, are currently constructing a retaining wall by the Loreto gym. Once built the rest of the work on the facility in its entirety will follow.
The committee hopes to have the facility completed by late June, well in advance of the new school term.
The all weather pitch will be available to local schools during school times by appointment only and for rent to local clubs and individuals at other hours.
It will be run on a not for profit basis and the income from the pitch will be used to support the running costs and maintenance of the facility.
A full-sized hockey pitch with flood lighting, the all-weather facility can be divided into four sections to facilitate multiple uses at the same time.
