HERO SEAN IS A REAL LIFESAVER
A relaxing Sunday evening on the banks of the Blackwater River in Fermoy could easily have turned to tragedy this week, if it were not for the quick thinking of a real life hero. Londoner, Sean Lambert put his own life at risk when he dived into the icy waters of the river to pull out a drowning man.
“It was just a normal Sunday evening, quiet really. I was sitting on the benches near the river about half seven when a Polish guy came over and sat down next to me. He was having a drink and we got talking,” Sean told The Avondhu.
A BIT UPSET
As the conversation continued the Polish man began to speak about his brother who had died recently, revealing the upset that his sudden death had caused.
“We were sitting there for about an hour, just talking. He told me he had been going to sit by the river every day since his brother died,” Sean explained.
“He was a bit upset,” he added.
