FERMOY SET FOR BIGGEST FESTIVE EVENT EVER’
Plans are currently under way to transform Fermoy into a Christmas wonderland with what has been described by many as ‘the biggest festive event the town has ever seen’, writes Susan Caplice.
The event will be backed by Avondhu Blackwater Partnership and plans are now in place to turn the Fermoy town park into a spectacular outdoor Christmas arena.
“Fermoy town park is a perfect venue for this event, work is still ongoing but we can confirm that there will be an ice rink and a 60ft toboggan slide, all the trees will have lights and there will be a huge snowman that kids can climb into and explore,” Valerie Murphy CEO of Avondhu Blackwater Partnership told The Avondhu.
The park will also see wandering snowmen and of course a visit from the main man himself, Santa Claus.
“There will be music from local musicians and festive food and the whole area will be covered with Christmas decorations and a covered walk-way,” Valerie Murphy continued.
The Fermoy Christmas festival will run for three days from Friday, December 17 to Sunday, December 19.
“We will have more information and details of the event over the coming weeks and some more surprises as well,” Valerie Murphy concluded.
It is understood that a substantial five figure sum will be available to put the entire programme together. Keep an eye on The Avondhu over the coming weeks for more details of this exciting event.
