FERMOY CHEESE COMPANY CLOSED BECAUSE OF RATES - OWNER CLAIMS
At a time when businesses are closing each month, many because of high council rates, one man is standing up and saying no.
Frank Shinnick set up the Fermoy Natural Cheese Company 15 years ago and now because the council want him to pay exorbitant rates, he has told The Avondhu that he had no choice but to close down the company.
Rates have been a sore point with Frank since he was growing up, as his mother, a widow who ran the family farm, had excessive rates to pay when she was trying to feed a young family.
He said that it is only when the Government waste too much money that they start ‘scraping the barrell’ looking for rates. ...
