Dog 'Pooper scoopers' working well in Fermoy
An additional 'pooper scooper' receptacle has been erected on the Duntaheen relief road in Fermoy, at the request of dog walkers and local residents.
"It was sought for a long time, the other one on the Duntaheen Road is widely used but it was felt a further one was needed," Noel McCarthy, chairman of Fermoy Tidy Towns, explained.
The Tidy Towns group feel the initiative overall in Fermoy has been a success. "The problem of dog fouling has definitely improved," Noel McCarthy said, reporting that they get calls to tell them the receptacles are full and need to be emptied and are notified when the bags need to be restocked. Tidy Towns PRO, Tadhg O'Donovan agreed the initiative has helped them tackle what was an unpleasant and persistent problem.
