Castletownroche bride to be, Laura Relihan could hardly contain her delight this week when she spoke to The Avondhu on foot of winning a dream wedding to the value of €10,000. Laura and her fiance, Shane Hickey of Castlelyons, won the fabulous prize in a promotion organised by the Evening Echo in association with Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork.
OVER THE MOON
The happy couple, who have a ten months old son named Ronan, came out on top over three other couples in the competition by virtue of getting the most votes via text and Facebook.
“We’re just over the moon. It’s brilliant,” an ecstatic Laura told The Avondhu.
MET IN FERMOY
“We met in Tom’s Tavern, Fermoy seven years ago but it was my friend, Diane Barry that really got us going in the right direction together,” Laura laughed. Now, Diane will be one of Laura’s bridesmaids when the big day comes around.
“Shane’s best friend, my cousin, Richard also played his part in us coming together though,” she added.
HUGE HELP
Laura and Shane, who live in a house that they bought in Castlelyons a couple of years ago, plan to tie the knot early next year.
“We thought it might be 2012 but things have changed now. Money can be tight enough with the mortgage and everything but this will be a huge help,” Laura Relihan said.
“Castlelyons is such a brilliant place to live. The people are lovely here.”
COMPLIMENTS ALL ROUND
She wanted to thank all the people who helped them with their efforts to garner the vital votes, especially Shane’s mother, Susan and her own mam, Ann.
Laura also thanked everyone that voted for them either by text or through the social networking site, Facebook.
She had special words of praise too for The Avondhu for having highlighted their search for votes back in early September.
