Beacon Retail Programme sets its sights on Fermoy
Cork County Council’s Beacon Initiative are inviting retailers based in Fermoy, to attend a public meeting on Monday, 30th March in The Grand Hotel at 6.15pm.
This meeting is open to all customer facing business in the area and will be presented by Padraig O’Sullivan, Beacon Initiative Programme Manager and Elmer Kerr, an experienced retail professional and director of the PMM Group. Retailers will be given the opportunity to hear first hand how the programme will address the specific needs of their business and how it can assist them in moving their business forward.
Following on from the public meeting, participating retailers will then attend a group session workshop with other local businesses. During this interactive session, topics such as store layout, in store displays, promotional activity and best industry practice will be brought to the table.
ACTION PLAN
Each retailer will then work on an individual basis with Padraig, Elmer and their team and a strategic working document will be compiled and put into action. This document will cover areas such as negotiating skills, marketing and digital media, online presence, personnel, customer service and the sales process.
The Beacon Retail Programme has been successfully rolled out to 10 towns across Cork county and the Beacon team has worked with over 150 businesses, ranging from convenience stores and florists to pharmacies and restaurants.
The programme is heavily subsidised by Cork County Council’s Economic Development Fund and will run over a 5-month period. To ensure the programmes success, places are limited to just 15 businesses.
