Dublin (Baile Átha Cliath), Irelands capital is located on the River Liffey. For the purposes of this website, Dublin City covers the city centre area within the belt of the following areas: Kilmainham, Phoenix Park, Drumcondra, Fairview, Dublin Port and Irishtown.
Founded as a Viking settlement, the city is Ireland's economic, administrative and cultural centre. There are a number of historic attractions in and around Dublin including Kilmainham Gaol and the GPO. The Guinness Storehouse is also a very popular tourist attraction.
The city has a vibrant nightlife, with the Temple Bar area being popular with tourists.
