Our Powerboat club, which is based on Achill Island, Co. Mayo, was established in June 2008.
In May of that year a group of boating enthusiasts from the Achill & Belmullet areas came together to take part in a local fun boating weekend on Achill, which was organised by a local enthusiast.

Although in it’s present formation Achill Rovers has only been going some 22 years, there has been a long tradition of soccer on Achill Island stretching back over 60 years This can be divided into four distinct historic periods.

Achill Rovers greatest period of success was in the 1990s culminating in the club winning the Mayo Premier League Championship for the first time in 1998.

The Achill GAA Club was officially established and affiliated to the Mayo County Board in 1941. Although the area was not new to Gaelic games, there never existed a club as such to bring together the footballers of the numerous villages to play as one team and represent the parish itself. The Junior footballers contested their first ever West Mayo Championship in 1942 and not only did they win that, they also proceeded to capture the County title.
