12-volt and 24-volt actuators are applied in a number of industries. Basically, both of them are linear actuators. They both work from the same motor kind. But a 24-volt actuator will take more power from it. Hence, a 24-volt actuator is more powerful than a 12 volt one.
The torque of the two actuator kinds is different, too. If you need an actuator with higher torque, you should opt for a 24-volt actuator.
12 Volt Actuators: Application Fields
12-volt actuators are used for applications where a less powerful device can work successfully. Usually, they are used to facilitate some tasks at work and to make home life more comfortable. Hence, they are common in the following devices:
Hospital beds;
Wheelchairs;
Dental chairs.
At home, they are used for:
Solar systems;
Kitchen devices.
12 volt actuators are lightweight, easy-to-install and maintain. Their level of controllability and precision level are very high.
24 Volt Actuators: Application Fields
24-volt actuators are used in a huge number of applications. Their main advantage is their reliability and resistance to corrosion. That’s why they can be applied both inside and outside of the construction. They are widely used in:
Robotics – they can move the arms and legs of a robot. Thanks to the high precision level, they are perfect for this application.
Home automation – there are widely applied for security cameras. A higher level of power provides the camera with more movement freedom.
Solar panels – in this case, 24-volt actuators are more common because they are more resistant than 12-volt actuators. They are made from different, more durable materials. That’s why the maintenance costs are reduced to a minimum. They are silent and easy-to-install. That’s why they can be used in many applications.
